Busy Week!

Last week was a very busy week.  We started with our first visit to the doctor.  Lily did very well and is healthy which is the best Maman could wish for.  She was a real trooper as she had to have 4 boosters and she cried during the procedure but was quick to quiet down once it was over.  What she doesn't know is she has to go back in 2 months to get 4 more.  Shhhh!

We also had a wonderful visit from MonOncle (uncle) Robert.  He drove all the way from Timmins to come meet Lily for basically one day.  He and Lily bonded very well and she loved to play the "chase me" game with him.  Guess Maman will have to take over until his next visit.

We also went for a visit at Nai Nai's (Brenda) house and we had a great lunch and visit with the family and finally got a chance to meet the new puppy "Maui".  Lily wasn't quite sure what to make of Maui since her stuffed animals don't move or kiss back but they quickly became friends.  Maui was pretty cute!!!

Lily also said her first words repeating after Uncle John.  Those were "Good Girl".  I would have preferred "Maman" but will take good girl.

Got to go, Lily has gotten hold of the container filled with the tupperware lids and has decided to pull all of them out unto the kitchen floor.  Why is it they get the concept of pulling things out but not putting them back??

Have a good week as I leave you with these recent pics.

Weekend Fun!!

I don't think it's ever too early to try out a career so I gave Lily a couple of jobs this weekend!  Cleaning lady and baker.  She didn't mind doing the floors but had a ball baking cupcakes but as you can see that was much messier.    I'll see how she does when it's time to eat them!!  Have a good weekend.

Where's my allowance for this?

Wonder what this is all about?

This flour needs a little something extra!!

Week 2 Home - Update

Grandpapa came to visit for the weekend.  As you can see from the pic below, Lily and he bonded very well and she kept looking for him today once he had gone.  Grandpa taught Lily how to give a High Five.  All it took was a couple of hours of trying and she had it down pat.

It simply baffles me how quickly she is learning things.  She already understands a lot of what I say.  She's also standing on her own alot more so I'm sure she will be walking soon.  She also discovered the stairs and managed to climb some of them.  Guess it's time to get out that gate.

The weather has been much nicer this week too so we've taken advantage of it and have gone for many walks.  She's pretty good in the stroller but keeps falling asleep in it so have to be careful when I time the walks.
Yesterday was Mommy's birthday and we had a very good day.  First Maman would like to say she already had the best present ever so didn't need anything else.  Grandpa took the girls out for dinner the night before and we couldn't feed little Miss Lily fast enough but she did pretty well sitting for the whole dinner.  Mommy also let her have her first Timbit to celebrate so she's truly a Canadian.    Timbits are good!!!!

On the big day Aunt Rebecca and Uncle John hosted a lovely dinner for the birthday celebration. There was tons of good food, unexpected guests, presents, flowers and of course a birthday cake.  As you can see Lily was impressed by the candles and we pooped her out with all the playing with her cousin Iris and the eating she fell asleep in the car on the way home and was down for the count for the night.

One last picture to show that even the cutest girls sometimes have bad hair days some mornings!!!  Have a good week.

Settling In

Hi Everyone,

We've been home almost a week now and I can't believe it.  We are still dealing very much with jet lag, especially Lily.  We were up at 2:00 and 3:00 am for several days so needless to say we were both in bed very early at night.  We have made a bit of progress however and this morning we she woke up at 5:45 am.  Who would have thought I would ever consider 5:45 am progress.   Baby steps!!

Lily has been adjusting very well to her new home.  She loves her toys and in the short time we've been here has started crawling (she couldn't do that when we were in China) and it won't be long until she starts walking.  I'm in deep trouble then.

We've gone on a few small outings over the last couple of days to try and keep her awake during the day.  We went to the OHIP office and the mall and had lunch with Nai Nai Brenda and Aunt Donna.  We also went to Denny's with Uncle John, Aunt Rebecca and Iris for pancakes to mark the start of lent.  We didn't much care for the pancakes but she loved the scrambled eggs and she shared very well with Iris, which again is a big improvement from scratching and pushing the kids when I first got her.   She has also mastered the art of kissing so Mommy loves those although some are wetter than others.  We'll work on that.

I am looking foward to the warmer weather when we can start going outside for walks.  Right now she's not too happy in her snow suit because it's a little confining.

Grandpapa is coming for a visit for a couple of days this weekend so he and we are very excited.   We aren't going to do much except get acquainted.

Well it's almost nap time and we are rubbing our eyes right now so I better get to trying to get her down before I miss the window of opportunity.

Thank you to everyone for the parcels, flowers, letters and emails.  I will get to sending thank you notes or responses to each of you when I can spare a few minutes.

Hugs and kisses, Marie and Lily  (here's a couple of pics from home to tied you over).

                                                                  We love banana.

                                                                And our Cheerios!

WE ARE FINALLY HOME!!!!!!

Hi Everyone,

It's 4:00 am on Friday and we are up.  Lily is eating her Cheerios (she loves her Cheerios) and playing with her new little kitchen. It plays music so it is very popular.  She's in a really good mood so I guess there is no going back to bed anytime soon.

I'm finally getting a chance to see everyones comments on the blog.  Thanks to everyone for your wonderful notes and all the emails.

The flight was long and for the most part wasn't too bad.  Lily slept about a total of 7 hours.  Mommy may have gotten a couple of hours for the most part and Aunt Donna finally got a little sleep when Lily stopped kicking her.

We were greeted at the airport by a wonderful crowd.  It was fabulous and Miss Bit was certainly the main focus with all the cameras pointed at her.  She looked great but the rest of us, well lets just say, we've had better days.

Thank you for everyone for coming to greet us.  We had presents and balloons and lots of hugs and smiles.   It meant a great deal and hopefully a few of you can send me some pics so I can put them in her Life Book.  I'm sorry we didn't take a group shot and didn't get a chance to speak individually to everyone but your presence was certainly noted and very much appreciated.   Sabrina, we will connect soon and you can give Lily her new giraffe personally.  There was just too much excitement yesterday.   The balloon was very popular.

I also want to say a really BIG Thank You to Aunt Donna.  It was great having you there with us and we I couldn't have done it without you.    You are very special and dear to both of us.

Today we are going to do laundry and just explore our new house and toys.  I'll try and connect with everyone personally once we are back on Canada time.

Have a great weekend everyone.  It is good to be home and yes, I ate a PB&J sandwich for dinner last night.  It was wonderful.  Here's our first pic at home.

Last Day in China

The last couple of days have been very busy.  We went to Tianamen Square and the Forbidden City and that was a lot of walking and I can tell you it's a great workout when you have a 23lb child strapped to your chest.

Our shopping day was, well, interesting.  I didn't buy much except for an extra bag to take laundry home and some running shoes for Lily.  I would be rich and skinny if I lived here full time.  The bargaining is not my thing and well you know my idea of the food here.  Aunt Donna seemed to enjoy the haggling.  She bought shoes and purses.  Can you believe I'm in fake bag central and I didn't even look at them.  And they say Motherhood doesn't change you.

Last night we had a "Goodbye China" dinner and a birthday party for Hayley who turned 6 yesterday.  There was a magician who made animal balloons but Lily wanted nothing to do with hers.  She was more interested in dancing to the music they were playing.  That's my girl!!!

Today we pack and then "Whoo Hoo!!!!" we are coming home.  I'm going to try and keep Lily up this afternoon so she sleeps on the plane tonight.  That's the plan!  We'll see how that goes.

Hope all is well with everyone at home.  See you soon.  We are all so ready to come home.
